About Dr. Bernstein
Dr. Bernstein is a psychologist registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario for over 20 years. He is a founding member of the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment (CAPDA) and a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.
Dr. Bernstein is originally from Montreal. He is currently practicing in Toronto.
He completed his Bachelors Degree in Psychology at McGill University. He went on to achieve his Masters of Science and later his Ph.D. in Psychology at Nova Southeastern University in Florida. His graduate studies were within the Scientist/Practitioner model and emphasized an evidence-based approach to psychological treatment.
Dr. Bernstein completed a one-year internship at Boston University Medical Center. His internship included training within the health and rehabilitation psychology fields as well as a teaching fellowship in Psychiatry. After finishing his internship, Dr. Bernstein relocated to the Maritime Provinces where he ran a Hospital-based Pain clinic in addition to a private practice in Moncton.
Following this, Dr. Bernstein accepted a position at the Mount Sinai Hospital Department of Psychology in 1988 and still holds a appointment there. He also holds a status appointment at the Assistant Professor level in the Faculty of Medicine, Division of Public Health Sciences at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Bernstein’s practice includes assessment and treatment of a wide variety of conditions including, but not limited to chronic pain, anxiety, traumatic, affective (mood), cognitive, learning, addictions and stress related disorders.
